Dear Editor,

I suppose in the real world, we as citizens are allowed to speak freely and express our feelings on a variety of issues. Being dissatisfied and rebellious on certain ones has become the norm in many circles.

The multiplex scenario in our city is one of them.

Coun. (Donna) Reid, who submitted a Letter to the Editor, has all the right to comment on the recent incidents that have taken place regarding the multiplex issue. But her suggested direction to council has once again raised the ire of some citizens.

I believe the majority of citizens across the city who have been involved in this process understands that the selection of the Conestoga site is a foregone conclusion and is in place with the handpicked task force members that sits on the same committee as Coun. Reid.

This is probably one of the big reasons why the door has been opened for some citizens to be dissatisfied and rebellious.

Rick Cowsill

former Ward 2 councillor

Rick sure calls it a spade. Some on council fear little as the internet voting will take care of their win. Great city we have but too many crooked people here.

Rick – if any one – you know how Craig works (or doesn’t)! And he has cemented his promise to Tibbetts by manipulating his Council – at least the non-thinkers. Donna Reid is too wordy – doesn’t reason out what is good for this City – just what is good for certain people. Her neighbour couldn’t sign the Petition against Conestoga fast enough – it was quite interesting – grabbed the pen & signed!! He isn’t interested in driving out of town for Sports activities!!
Yes – we citizens have our ire up because the Mayor & his followers are betraying the people that pay their wages – taxpayers that need to be treated better than this. They are treating us like a bunch of dummies – heading in the stupidest direction for this Complex. Any other progressive upfront Cambridge thinkers would have had the Complex half up by now – IN CENTRAL CAMBRIDGE!!!!$$
We are a growing City & need a Complex in this City – not on the outskirts. How brain dead is this Mayor & his followers – it is so ridiculous.
A bunch of Teenagers could do a better MORE efficient – productive job than the idiots right now. GRRRRRR – IT IS SO STUPID!!
Only Dr. Derek Coleman should be listened to – not these unqualified num nums!!

Well with the internet voting that is being allowed by this City for the 2018 election we know that this type of voting can be fixed and also hacked and since the POWERS THAT BE do not listen to the VOTING PUBLIC but have their own agenda we actually do know the outcome of the 2018 election already..
That thought in mind, let’s think about the MULTIPLEX ISSUE. Question 1…putting this complex on Conestoga land does this make it central for RESIDENTS AND TAXPAYERS OF THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE?? I can answer that for you..NO DAMN WAY!!! Conestoga College is not central…when one thinks of the College Campus, one automatically thinks of KITCHENER NOT CAMBRIDGE.. Question 2…by locating this complex at the College, will local merchants in Cambridge realize any revenue when tournaments take place?? hmmm Let me ponder that for a few minutes…Tournaments held in the complex…people have to eat..well would they want to hop in their cars…drive East on the 401 to the Cambridge Highway 24 cut off and get something to eat?? I think not..let’s face it we are in a society where we want things as close to our fingertips as possible. It will be so much easier to head down Homer Watson and get food there than to deal with the traffic and head East on the 401…CAMBRIDGE MERCHANTS will NOT feel any economic gain or very little if this complex is on the College land.
Let me just close by saying CONESTOGA COLLEGE IS NOT CENTRAL AND OF NO ECONOMIC VALUE TO THE MERCHANTS OF THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE….COME ONE PEOPLE WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE AND TELL THESE ELECTED OFFICIALS THAT THIS COMPLEX NEEDS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE RESIDENTS AND MERCHANTS OF THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE AND NOT THE CITY OF KITCHENER.

After all IT WILL BE OUR TAX DOLLARS THAT PAY FOR THIS…AND DO WE REALLY WANT THE CITY OF KITCHENER TO BENEFIT FROM THIS??????

You said it all RK. I have had people in Kitchener Doctor’s offices & relatives, etc. “thank” our dumb Mayor for benefiting Kitchener if Conestoga succeeds.
They know – our Mayor & some of Council do not know what is good for Cambridge.
Even a kid could figure this out. Why can’t our supposedly educated Council????
One has to ponder the reason behind the push by Craig for Conestoga. Has to be a reason that he is not supporting his Voters (or hacked voters??). Must be the pocket book talking – what do you think Cambridge????????????$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Someone should ask the guy at the Chamber of Commerce and ask if the college site is good for Cambridge businesses. I haven’t heard boo from them. Right..wrong, or silenced??

Yes would you not think his business was to promote Cambridge – oh darn – forgot – Tibbetts on his Board so there we go again $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
The way our Mall is going – there won’t be any where to send visitors interested in shopping.
Even the three downtowns will suffer. And people work hard to earn a living and then our dopey Mayor kicks them all in the teeth. Does not care. He’s made his Millions$$$$ Does not care about the little people. Election 2018 is close!!!!
This whole setup is totally nuts.

Maybe some of us Malcontents should stop off at the Chamber of Commerce and demand some answers…I think that would sure piss off Council!!!!!!

Lets go – might give that useless Manager there something to do. He just might get clued in to what is happening in Cambridge.
Oh, darn, forgot – takes orders from his board member – Tibbetts – golly gee – how could I forget – he is on the same payroll as Craig.
Otherwise cannot imagine why anyone with half a brain would want to shove the Complex OUT OF TOWN$$$$$$$

I think that if the Malcontents if that is truly what they are…they really do need to go down to the Chamber of Commerce and very calmly ask for answers to the question as to why they have not commented in any way as to the advantage of locating the complex on College land would be of benefit to the merchants and commerce of the City of Cambridge

Just call the Chamber and see how many FAMILY MEMBERS work there. How many work a full week? Why has not one damn comment come forth from the Chamber to support a central location? I shouldn’t ask questions I know the answers to. Another reason people are fed up.

Caribou – why the Malcontents – why not you or someone else to show interest in all of this.
Actually one of the Councillors said the term Malcontents is not right. We are not Malcontents – just fed up with the way the Mayor & Councillors are not doing their job protecting the people of Cambridge & build the Complex CENTRAL.
And of course the Chamber of Commerce doesn’t care – he gets paid no matter what & all his family members. Must be nice.
People go to the Chamber of Commerce & ask questions. Now.

I just got word that the multiplex will be cancelled. We have no money. l heard it also might be split into 2 locations. 1/2 in the Dixon Park and the other 1/2 at the firestone building. This way the new walk bridge can be used by the hockey teams during tourneys. What we have here is a failure to communicate Luke. If Luke wants to be punished …he gets it. We need Paul Newman as Mayor! I just picked up a new Red Rider Gun! Beware all you pumpkins. Oh yeah, new wave of non working freeloaders arrived here this month. I want to help but I’m tapped out with taxes. Best way to beat the high price of gas….only put 5 bucks in at a time.

What kind of crap is that??? MALCONTENTS UNITE!!!!!! Let’s show them on October 2 that we are not going to be BLINDSIDED BY THIS COUNCIL!!!
