Mike Mann, ( Preston Councillor) voted for ELECTRONIC VOTING… based on “Staff Recommendation”..

PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE CTV INTERVIEW

to……Mike Mann, Preston Ward Councillor:

As you are well aware we went before Council to give council an idea of why internet voting is not a good way for our City to vote in 2018.
We heard what you had to say and  we seen your interview after the meeting.

We are really disappointed to see that on the recorded vote you voted in favour of this way of voting and your reasoning

behind this vote was…“Staff Recommended It”

Voting like that really makes me question as to whether or not you have the best interests of your

Electorate in mind when you vote… or if you just ‘go with the flow’

We the Electorate would like to know that our councillor would have at least investigated  the safety of this method on your own..

Isn’t that what you promised your constituents you would do?..

To have THEIR best interests at heart..

Not just go with the flow… but think for yourself..???..

You were sent an email prior to this vote, clearly showing you, the risks involved in Electronic Voting and how

unsafe it still is.. { an email, *duly noted*…  you totally ignored, never bothered to acknowledge receiving it}

Is this how you represent your constituents?

Councillor Adshade was correct when he said that Council really wasn’t qualified enough with regard to this issue..

and yet, you admit in a television interview, that you  just went with…

The recommendation of staff instead of bothering to do your own research..

How qualified are they on this topic?..
We really found it interesting that Council said over and over again that there wasn’t a problem with the online voting cast in 2014..

How can Council honestly say that??

Where’s the proof ??..
Council cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the online voting done in 2014 was truly reliable and that leads me to think that members of this Council do not want to admit that an unproven system can be infallible.

I found your statement that you personally  do not use online voting because you prefer the paper ballot interesting.

The mayor also admitted.. He prefers paper ballots..!.

and yet, both of you  VOTED FOR ELECTRONIC BALLOTS {?} possibly putting us at risk..

Because there’s no Evidence anywhere that states it’s safe!!

It was mentioned that 100 out of 400 Municipalities opted to use this system.

100 out of 400 MUNICIPALITIES..{ doesn’t that tell you something?} Why isn’t everyone using it?

Guelph who did use in the 2014 Election voted against it for 2018…{ why is the question.. did you bother to contact them?}

Waterloo also opted for paper ballots for the 2018 Election.. { did you contact them as to why they opted to not use it?}

Kitchener won’t even touch it..

Did any of this raise any flags for you?..

Or did you just decide to go with STAFF RECOMMENDATION? without doing any investigating on your own..?

Mr. Mann  we am going to leave you with one last thought regarding the difference between online voting and a paper ballots…
Did you know that when you vote with a paper ballot your identity and who you voted for remains anonymous?
When you vote online it is known who voted by your IP ADDRESS

and exactly WHO you voted for…. so the vote cast is not anonymous.

Is this not a BREACH OF PRIVACY concerning OUR BALLOT?

Why would you throw us under the bus this way?

Funny how during the campaign, all candidates state that they are there for the residents and to be their voice on council…and yet, here they are, the voice for staff and developers. When will they stop and listen to the ones who are paying for all these bad decisions.

So…Mike Mann…listen to the constituents who are the voters and NOT STAFF recommendations. There is no way to guarantee the everyone’s personal computer is virus free and no way to confirm if every single vote actually got transmitted to where it gets counted.

If computers are so secure, why do banks get hacked and why is there insurance for identity fraud???

Since Mike Mann says he will vote on a ballot, obviously he sided with staff, even though he doesn’t trust internet voting.

    What a “COP-OUT”!!!!!…(no pun intended)

first the internet and phone voting with
fewer walk in polling booths and paper ballots
next only internet and phone in voting
1 polling station in each community
    why?
    saving money for legacy projects
dept so high can’t raise taxes any more
    good goin mayor and council
tough for those who do not use a computer
tough to the fact it is and always will be insecure
bonus to rigged results as needed

The 2 letters in the Times Tues. – don’t have a clue what is going on in this City. There is foul play & corruption for sure. People need to attend Council meetings to find out for themselves.
Look at what Dr. D. Coleman dug up – a Developer buys property at Pinebush for 1.9 M. – now worth 30 M. He asked the Mayor/Councillors how they missed this bargain. Would have been the perfect spot for the SPORTS COMPLEX not mega units/Hotels -will be a terrible mess – no roads – nothing. Just ridiculous how this City is run. No common sense any more. I can see that by a process of elmination – Craig will get his wish to SPEND OUR TAX DOLLARS AT CONESTOGA – HE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THIS CITY OR THE PEOPLE IN IT TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING. He is so self-centred – is sad as he will ruin our Sports Complex by giving it away$$$

Doug will go down as the worst mayor in history, same as most of council. The gift to this developer should have sent up red flags. How our city gave this away is frightening. The 30 million could have paid our firefighters retention pay bonus for 5 years. Gary Dyke should be sent to Quebec for a bag of pucks.

yes – I am afraid of process of elimination of the Complex sites. Firstly McVittie spouting off about losing taxes if built on City property – well we know this is nonsense as there are many untaxed sites. But think of the business it will bring into town & jobs. “Wake up Craig/Councillors.
Then there is the slight of hand developer that appeared with this horrendous development on property the city could have bought for 1.9 m. They city pays $800,000. for a dump of a bldg. in Galt – but can’t find the common sense to buy this property for 1.9 M. REALLY!! HOW DUMB! Thank goodness we have Dr. Derek Coleman who knows what he is talking about. Smart man – dumb Mayor.
Well Deb you are likely right – send our money & business to Conestoga. Heavens don’t help our people trying to make a living here in town.
Just goes on & on. Ridiculous & stupid for sure.

We should send Pam on a business trip to the wine fields of France. She can bring back ideas on home brew. Probably more jobs than that other clown gets us. Glug, glug.
