Doug Craig and Donna Reid.. vote against a Professional speaking TO THE RISK OF ” INTERNET VOTING” …(Why is that?)

Aleksander Essex appeared at Cambridge Council on March 27th.. And they actually had to take a vote in order to allow this highly qualified Professional  to speak to the uncertainty of INTERNET VOTING.. ( Doug Craig and Donna Reid voted against him speaking)

PLEASE REMEMBER:

Your CITY COUNCIL voted for INTERNET VOTING back in April 2017 without ever hearing evidence against this style of casting your ballot..

THEY VOTED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF STAFF ONLY!!

Well done Alexsander. You knew what you were talking about for sure. Loved the “brand” comment. Kind of hit home with a few people. We just hope that they were all listening and learning the facts about the issues with Online voting. We thank you for taking your time travelling the distance to educate the people that should be informed on this issue.
So it remains to be seen if the Mayor & Councillors will be well-advised and go back to paper ballots where there is visible/physical proof of the actual vote. And to have Scrutineers in place to monitor the counting & delivery to proper headquarters.
Then our job is to get people out to vote Oct. 22nd, 2018 on paper!!

It was a very good meeting and very informative I think to the Council. I know the few people that were in chamber by the time he got up to speak were well informed. What I thought was interesting was the fact that he said that paper ballots do not have the capacity to ‘multiply’ when they are put in the ballot box. Interesting that Pam Wolf had a comment on that..Come on now..let’s really think about this one..because I have a hard time believing that when you put a paper ballot in the ballot box things can change. A Voter goes to a Polling Station, walks up to the Poll Clerk and hands in their Voter Card. They are in turn handed the piece of paper then they go behind and mark their ballot and then come back to the Poll Clerk where both the Voter and the Poll Clerk watch as the ballot is put in the ballot box..Now explain to me that this can go wrong because I really have a problem with that theory.
When you look at Online Voting however, there are just too many ‘gray’ areas here. With paper ballots you can actually do a physical count of the paper…Online??? No Way…Can you verify that your vote was actually recorded?? If there needs to be a recount, it can be done with paper ballots, but can it really be done with online voting?? These are all critical things to think about when you exercise your Democratic Right on October 22…My advice..take the time and go to the polls…Advance Polls are not as busy so use them…Use the Polling Stations…Get out and Vote.,,After all if you want to see change at City Hall October 22 will be your chance to see that happen
