Corruption at City Hall? by Scot Ferguson

old post office1

old ps2

Let me get this straight.

Landmark Holdings buys the Post Office and guts it with plans to open a restaurant. They gut the interior and completely destroy it so no one else wants it.
The city then buys the building from Landmark and gives them an exclusive, untendered deal on the restaurant that will be in the building.
The city buys the building next to it, where there are established businesses, to tear the building down to “improve the view of the river.”
Now Landmark wants an exemption to the building height bylaw to put up a new highrise, next to the river, which will block the view of the river.
You can’t tell me that someone at City Hall isn’t in Landmark’s pocket.
I have to wonder how many free lunches Hardy Bromberg and his crew at the planning department had at the Mill Restaurant while this scheme was hatched.
So far I have discovered that Bromberg’s family owns a land development company. Holy conflict of interest, Batman!)

This matter definitely requires further investigation.

What isn’t corrupted in this town. Our tax dollars are not being spent in proper ways. Just call our local hospital an ask them. Especially ask about the corrupted hospital staff parking an how many have finally be nailed for scamming. Exp using security cards from pepole no longer working there to get free parking while a sic person pays out like crazy. An these scammers keep their jobs.

How can anything be built when nothing has burnt down???? Isn’t that the norm for Cambridge???

Sounds like you grew up here ? lol…. We have seen it all..
At least this time they are outright purchasing whatever they want and don’t care what you think about how they are blowing your tax dollars..

I agree. Tax dollars for the city. Not for friend in business. I’m NDP and believe the people need the money not rich owners.

Doug Craig & the RAT PACK make me sick, they should all be charged with destroying historical buildings in our city… who voted that f**k head in again any ways, not me! Didn’t he spend enough of our tax dollars last year & the year before? He should be run out of town like they did in the western moves.I think they should investigate how he got in again. I don’t no one person that wanted him in as Mayor but he’s sitting at the desk with his X-mas toys playing with our city. Mr.Craig; Christmas is over!

We need to start a Fire The Mayor campaign. We need extreme changes in our city before it gets completely destroyed. We have hotels all along the highways. Landmark wants a hotel close to its wedding facilities. They want to turn the downtown core in to their area and not for the best interest of the people. We have movies downtown because of our unique area and the Mayor mentions the importance of this and speaks on supporting the heritage of our community. What a hypocrite to change his mind when money gets flashed under his nose. This should be considered a conflict of interest as his son invests in the downtown core. Let us FIRE THE MAYOR!!!!! He was below the majority for votes when you look at all the Cambridge residents. There needs to be moral and ethics and accountability in city hall. Lets create a facebook page, write letters to the newspaper and make a loud call for the Ombudsman to come to town. The corruption is becoming chaotic in this city.

It makes me wonder what else is going to come along. First the Old Post Office is bought so that the taxpayers pay for renovations and Landmark will use for weddings and now the hotel proposal. Looks like more will be happening in the near future and we will only hear about it after all the deals have been made with the Mayor behind closed door meetings. Landmark has plans for our downtown core and the people are of no concern to the revenue that they want to have fill their pockets. Our traffic issues can not handle all of the additional cars and road closures. The theater was the start. Now our downtown is being shaped in to what Landmark wants…not the people. And it is the taxpayers who will pay for the mistakes and the contamination and the traffic congestion. I agree with David…is this not a conflict of interest with the Mayor and his son investing downtown?

just noticed yesterday that we will have to pay for parking, closest bus stop is the bus terminal as blair rd. bus stops at 915 n doesnt run again until 315 little access for those who have difficulty walking and how long before a kid gets hit by a car crossing the road to the parking lot or short cut to bus terminal.
